Redesigned Master Bedroom Plans

Last year at the very beginning of the pandemic, we decided to finally upgrade to a king size bed. While that has been one of the best decisions we’ve ever made, it also means that our master bedroom has kind of been in shambles ever since. Besides a new bed frame and nightstands, I haven’t put forth any effort to make our master bedroom look and feel how I want it to be.

Until now! Hence this post. 😉

If you’d like a refresher, here’s our room from several years ago. Man, my interior design style and tastes sure have evolved. We’ve since repainted the room – White Heron by Sherwin Williams – which helped neutralize and brighten everything so the room didn’t feel so gray. Here are my redesigned master bedroom plans!

We’re finally getting new upstairs carpet installed (one of our house project goals for 2021!), so it seems as good a time as any to finally make this room what I know it can be. I have to move and rearrange everything anyway, right?!

I pulled everything together using our bed frame and nightstands as the anchor pieces; since we already own and love both, I didn’t want to replace either. We also still have the same white dresser that luckily goes with pretty much any decor direction I want to go!

Right now, everything kind of feels like it’s floating in the room, which I’m not a fan of. So, I’m probably most excited to add a big area rug to anchor the space. Yes, even with new carpet; we picked a low pile carpet partially for this reason!

I’ve also been having a lot of fun mixing metals and different textures in rooms. There’s black hardware on both the nightstands and our dressers, so we’re keeping things consistent with black curtain rods. This really lets the gold frames above the bed shine! I adore the contrast and warmth they bring to the room.

It’s always so fun for me to put together a design board before we start a project! It helps me narrow down my vision for a room and stay within budget. It’s also interesting to compare how the real thing turns out compared to my original inspiration. This one should really help me pull together our master bedroom quickly!
