Coffee Chat no. 26

coffee chat
Hey, Monday! How the hell are ya? I’ve been in quite the funk the last couple weeks, and I just can’t seem to shake it. Even using all my usual tips and tricks, my brain and moods are all over the place. Sorry, Ry – you’re a saint! To me, it seems like the world has moved on and life is back to being wonderfully normal … yet, here I am like a new-age Ms. Havisham still holed up in my house a majority of the time second-guessing everything I do and everywhere I go. Did I hallucinate a pandemic? Some days I’m honestly not sure! Life now just seems like a never-ending loop of complication and confusion. But, that’s just me and where I’m at.

On a lighter note, I’m officially over summer and ready for all things fall. I seriously considered busting out the fall home decor this past weekend – after being stuck in the house for nearly six months and looking at the same things day in and day out, it feels like my soul is slowly dying. I’m nothing if not dramatic. 😉 I decided to give it until after Labor Day with the decor, so as a compromise I ordered a couple affordable sweaters from Walmart. There’s never been a more “me” sweater than this one, and I love this sweater’s button detail. Both fit TTS – I did a small!

I can’t believe this much time has passed without me mentioning the new Taylor Swift album! I’ve barely listened to anything else lately, so it’s safe to say that I’m borderline obsessed. Girlfriend knows how to write some lyrics and tell a story. What do you think?!

Thanks to Jess Keys, I totally want a ukulele.

I finally caved and purchased a pair of these sandals. Are they the cutest? No, but who cares when they’re insanely comfortable. I wear them most while I’m working outside in the yard/garden. They run big – I’m normally an 8.5 or 9, and a size 8 fit best.

One thing we’re missing a lot lately is the movie theater – we would see a movie nearly every week before ‘rona. So, we’ve made a point to have weekly movie nights at home! I have a running list in the Notes app on my phone of all the movies we need to watch. Ryan wasn’t much into movies before we started dating, so it’s been fun to revisit the classics and old favorites that he hasn’t seen!

Have a great start to the week!

We, too, are still doing social distancing, staying home, ordering everything online, and taking all of the precautions that many others seem to have left off. After five months of this, it does seem as though it will never end. Whenever I start to think maybe we should let our guard down a little and resume normal activities, I read or see a first-person account of someone who had COVID and it reminds me of why we need to absolutely avoid it, if at all possible. Even if we survive it, the long-term effects may be serious and it is not worth taking unnecessary risks, and thinking about that helps us stay the course. Keep hanging in there!

It’s ok not to be ok these days! I think we’re all feeling what you’re feeling, so you’re not alone! Just have to try and find the little things to make you feel better, and I think you found a few!
