What Type of Packer Are You?

Our upcoming vacation is right around the corner! I’m ridiculously excited to get away for a few days to have fun and soak up some much-needed warmth and sunshine.

That said, an impending trip also means that I’m currently in the thick of one of my least-favorite activities – packing. Which lead me to think about a question that always interests me about other people: what type of packer are you?

what type of packer are you?

Are you an early or last-minute packer?

No shock here that my Type A/Enneagram 1 personality is an early packer. I typically start to pack a week or so out from a trip. This allows me to ease into it at my own pace. If I accomplish a little bit each day – whether that’s toiletries one day, clothes the next, etc. – it’s not as overwhelming.

This also allows time for multiple packing lists! Yes, I said multiple. I have a list for each category – carry-on (if necessary), primary luggage, toiletries, beauty items and so on. It’s a bit excessive, but it works. And, I have yet to forget anything!

And, this leads me to my next question:

Do you only pack the essentials, or are you an over-packer?

For the most part, I like to think that I only pack the essentials. That’s probably due to said multiple lists mentioned above. I also try to take the time to lay out and try on all my outfits, accessories and shoes included, to have a loose idea/plan of what I’d like to wear each day. Because there’s nothing worse than packing a bunch of “options” only to find out that I don’t want or like any said options individually or together!

HOWEVER … I’m 100% guilty of throwing an obscene number of extra tees and underwear in my luggage. Especially if we’re headed somewhere warm (almost always), a girl has to have a backup plan in case of a sweaty emergency. You know?! I figure if those are the only two things that I over-pack then I’m still in the clear. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Your turn! I’d love to know what type of packer you are and if there’s any reason why.

You also better believe that I’m working through my checklist of 10 things to do before a trip.

I am notorious for arriving somewhere and by day 2 saying “I packed like an idiot”. I do usually plan outfits and try them on, that has been a BIG help. But my problem is usually not having enough to give me other options too. I NEED OPTIONS! I will say though, thanks to having a job that had me traveling quite a bit before the blog, I MASTERED the toiletry bag. I am never without what I need even in an emergency. I keep it packed at all times and re-fill and adjust it when I get back from every trip.

I definitely have to plan ahead for packing, as I have a tendency to second guess everything at least a half dozen times before it makes it into the suitcase!

I tend to make my lists a few weeks in advance and then I usually start putting things in the suitcase a few days before, but inevitably I end up being a last minute packer the night before! xo, Biana –BlovedBoston

    Hi Karly!
In the past, Iโ€™ve been that girl who packs 2 weeks in advance, with an ample supply of โ€œjust in caseโ€ items. Iโ€™ve set intentions of living a more minimalistic life, so for an upcoming 5 day trip Iโ€™m planning to pack everything that I need in my carry on case! Lofty goals, fingers crossed!๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š
