Our Home at Christmas 2019

I’m getting into the holiday spirit today by sharing a peek of our home at Christmas!

It has been a few years since I shared any Christmas decor here – 2017, to be exact! I was cracking up while scrolling through that post because not only have things changed in our home, but my general style and decor has evolved, too! Yes, some things are the same, but other things are drastically different. Especially my mindset – less is more.

So on that note, let me take you around for a quick tour!

2019 tour of our home at Christmas

Starting with our entryway – this area/table rarely changes. We actually use that wooden box as a catchall for car keys, sunnies, etc., so I don’t want anything too fussy to keep it functional. The glass trees from Target are a couple of the only new decor pieces that I purchased this year – and they are BEAUTIFUL. Seriously, I can’t believe the quality for how inexpensive they are. They look like something straight out of a Pottery Barn catalog! I bought a pack of LED tealights to use with them.

Continuing on into our front living room! Ryan built a table for our Christmas village – ours is the Dept. 56 Original Snow Village – this year, and I think it looks adorable in front of the faux fireplace. This room is where Finn likes to hang out the most, too!

Oh, yeah – remember last time you saw this room? Well, I decided that rug didn’t fit at all so we returned it and went with this IKEA rug instead. So much better.

Have you figured out yet that I’m a fan of more muted, neutral decor? 😉 I like this best because I can leave some of the decor up post-holidays to simply enjoy throughout the winter! My decorating motto is basically when all else fails, throw in a tree and some greenery. It works pretty well for me … along with making zero effort to hide cords.

We keep our dining room super simple – a few candles, a table runner that I’ve had for years and a strand of greenery. This table hardly gets used, so I almost can guarantee in two weeks’ time it will be cleared off for a puzzle.

Heading into the kitchen, I like to add a few pops of red where I can. I think it looks so classic and festive against the black and white backdrop!

I highly recommend checking out JoAnn Fabric for Christmas decor and signs – nobody ever mentions there, and I don’t know why! Such a hidden gem for unique finds that aren’t already overdone/everywhere. We’ve had the Season’s Greetings sign for a couple years now, and the holiday baking sign on my floating shelves is new for this year.

And, saving the best for last – probably my favorite view in the house right now is from the kitchen looking into our family room!

Our tree is so special to me. Our ornaments represent years of memories, and they make me ridiculously nostalgic. Not to mention Christmas Chuck – our gnome tree topper – is my favorite EVER, and my dad made us a custom-designed train last year that is beyond special and fun. Basically this entire room makes me want to cry from happiness.

So as not to take away from the tree, I mix in some seasonal pieces with our everyday decor. I always opt to have our letter board have a quote from a favorite Christmas movie. Can you guess this year’s?!

And, that concludes the 2019 tour of our home at Christmas! Hopefully this inspires some of you to see that it doesn’t take much to make a home feel cozy and magical this time of year.

I can’t link too much since most of our decor I already had on hand and is several years old! But, as always if there’s something you’re curious about or looking for shoot me an email!

I’d love to know what your Christmas decorating style is! Do you keep it classic, or do you go bold? Simple, or more is more?

Ahh I love all your home decor and Christmas decorations! Everything is so light and bright, which makes the seasonal, red elements really pop. My decorating style has definitely evolved over the years too and although I used to feel guilty about replacing items in my decor because of the expense, I think it’s completely okay and normal for your style and preferences to change over the years, and if something makes you happy go for it. Beautiful photos by the way!

I couldn’t agree with you more! I did pretty well this year with only adding a few new pieces because I like to stick to my really traditional, nostalgic stuff this time of year. Luckily, places like Target give us great decor for not a lot of money! And, thank you!

I love the simple decor – it’s just gorgeous! You’re right, you can leave so much of it up throughout the winter, too. There have been a few things I’ve strung white Christmas lights on and then just left the lights on them for the whole year for ambience. Your rooms are just beautiful and Finn is such a cutie. He likes the front living room because he can see who’s coming and going. Love the Clark Griswold quote!

Haha, glad someone knows what movie is on our letter board! Yes, Finn loves to look out all the windows in that room and bark at any “intruders.” 😉
