Recent Amazon Shopping Hits and Misses

We are kicking off this week chock full of recent Amazon shopping hits and misses! Lucky for you (and, me of course!) there’s more good stuff than bad, and there seems to be something from practically every category. So, something for everyone if you will! Let’s get into it.

recent amazon shopping hits and misses

+ Boar Bristle Hair Brush. Okay, a boar and nylon bristle combo brush is a game-changer. My hairdresser used a similar brush during my blowout at my last appointment, and I’m so glad that I asked her about it because it gives unbelievable results! Lots of volume and body with straight/slightly bumped-under ends. This is a MUST for those with bobs and lobs who don’t want their hair too bouncy or curled-under at the ends like a round brush can do.

+ RFID Blocking Small Wallet. I have been meaning to upgrade from my free-with-purchase coin pouch to an actual small wallet for travel. This was exactly what I was looking for, and they offer quite a few colors. It’s a great size to fit your ID, cash and plenty of cards. It’s also slim/low-profile, so it won’t cause any extra bulk in whatever bag/purse you’re using.

+ Tassel Crossbody Purse. How the hell is this purse only $15?! Do yourself a favor and buy one NOW. It’s an ideal size to fit all your essentials and then a few more things! And, yes – the tassels are a functional zipper to a bottom pocket. I used it a ton in Nashville, and I know that I’ll use it for future trips and for date nights/other events.

+ Oversized Round Sunglasses. A tried-and-true wardrobe staple! I love (read: LOVE) trying new and different sunglasses, but I always come back to these. They’re inexpensive, but look great and hold up well. I went with the classic tortoiseshell color/pattern this time around, and they’re perfect for fall.

+ No-Show Anti-Slip Socks. Is it weird to be excited about socks? Because that’s how I feel about these. You know you’re an adult when … 😉 But really, these are the best socks of this kind that I’ve ever tried and worn. Plus, socks can be damn expensive so you can’t beat how many pairs you get for the price.

+ Camera Tripod for iPhone. This was purchased with the intention of using it in Nashville, but we ended up not using it as planned. I’m still hanging onto it because it’s super lightweight and has a few different functions of use. It’ll come in handy around the house when we want to snap our own photos and even for me with blog photos!

+ Buffalo Plaid Rug. This was another repurchase for me because I washed and put my first one in the dryer resulting in it coming out looking like a loincloth. So, note to self: hang dry is a must! Like most other people these days, I use this rug to layer under doormats throughout the fall and winter season. The 2×3 size fits our small porch great!

+ FitBit Versa Silicone Bands. Pretty sure I’ve sang the praises of these bands before in a monthly loves post, so here we are again. Both Ryan and I were in need of new ones due to wear and tear. I went with the wine red with rose gold buckle, and it’s SO pretty for this time of year. I was hesitant about wearing such a bold color on my wrist all the time, but it surprisingly goes with most of my clothes and adds that little pop to otherwise plain outfits.

+ High-Waist Polka Dot Pleated Midi Skirt. I saw a couple people on Instagram sing the praises of this skirt … um, totally going to call them out here because this skirt is total and complete CRAP. The material is something awful and just overall horrible quality.

+ Button-Front Ruffle Hem Peplum Blouse. Not total crap, but not exactly high-quality either. I’ve seen it look super cute on other people, but it just didn’t flatter me well. Take it or leave it if you want to give it a go yourself.

+ Leopard Print Belt. This technically isn’t a miss – there’s absolutely nothing wrong with this belt. It just wasn’t what I was looking for! I’m on the hunt for one a tad skinnier (pretty sure this one from Target is a winner). But, if you are in the market for a traditional leopard-print belt then this one seemed to be great quality!

What Amazon purchases have you made and loved recently? Any of your own misses?

I always enjoy reading your honest comments about your Amazon purchases and I think I’m going to have to buy that tasseled bag in a couple of colors (I’ve bookmarked it with your link). It’s wonderful to hear that it’s a great bag and see that price! I always try to look through the comments and the photo galleries to be sure that the 5-star reviews are real. Thanks for sharing!

Oh, I’m so glad to hear that – thank you for the kind feedback! There’s a lot of crap on Amazon, so I feel it necessary to always be honest about stuff. That bag is seriously great, I hope that you love it as much as I do!

Sometimes I wonder WTF people are doing when they recommend cheap, gross feeling clothes from Amazon. I get it, it’s an affiliate link for most people, but use them to promote quality stuff.

I need a new brush, I might check that one out!

I was honestly so baffled at how crappy that skirt was after I heard people raving about it. I was like WTF?

That brush is great, highly recommend!

I, for one, am so glad you posted about the no-show socks because I was JUST lamenting about how all my socks show or slip when I wear my slip-ons for fall! Thanks for sharing your finds!

Definitely skip the skirt, not worth the money whatsoever!
