Coffee Chat No. 23 | Post-Vacation Catch Up + Some Monthly Loves

Hello, and happy Wednesday! We’re back from our Nashville road trip, and I’m still in that post-vacation haze of trying to catch up. You know the feeling, I’m sure. So, while I have loads of laundry currently going and waiting for me, I thought it was a great time to sit down for a little coffee chat. Let’s do this!

I hope that everybody’s October is off to a good start! Hard to believe, right? I think Christmas is something ridiculous like 11 weeks away … excuse me while I panic and hide. 😉

Our first road trip experience was a good one! Although, if I’m being totally honest Nashville was slightly disappointing to us both. We’re still not sure why – maybe because we saw so much stuff leading up to our trip that our expectations were unrealistic? It could simply be that we’re not city people, and we weren’t prepared for the amount of traffic/driving required to get around. After 8 hours in the car just to get there, we needed a break that didn’t come. Oh well, that’s on us! We still saw, did and ate some great things that I’ll be sharing in a post within the next couple weeks. Plus, the uninterrupted time away with Ryan is something I’ll never take for granted since we get so little of it.

Now that our trip is over, I’m hoping we can take a breath for a quick-minute and enjoy the fall season! We’re also seeing Elton John next weekend, which we’re so psyched about. The concert originally was scheduled a week before my 30th birthday back in February, but it got rescheduled. At the time, I was really upset (read: pissed), but now it’s fun to have something to look forward to as a belated anniversary date night!

Since I decided to skip a monthly loves post for September, here’s a few things that I’ve been enjoying:

+ This Who What Wear dress was my favorite day-to-night outfit while we were in Nashville. Total Megan Markle vibes, am I right?!

+ Well, this is the prettiest face palette I ever did see. Christmas wish list, anybody?

+ ICYMI, the bob is back! With seven weeks between my appointments, I still had the itch to copy Lily James. So, I cut my hair right before we left! While I miss ponytails that don’t require 40 bobby pins to keep it in place, I’m thrilled with the new look. I’ve fallen back in love with this 2-in-1 brush, and this affordable matte pomade is great for achieving that polished, but piecey look.

+ Are Madewell jeans really worth the hype? My go-to American Eagle jeans are failing me these days, so I’m desperate for a great pair of denim. I do like that you can recycle an old pair of jeans to help offset the cost of a new pair.

+ I just finished reading Can You Keep a Secret by Sophie Kinsella (don’t forget to check out this month’s reading roundup!), and it was so, so cute. I’m dying to watch the movie now!

+ I think Allbirds might actually live up to their claim of being the comfiest shoes EVER. More details to come in a future post, but if you wear sneakers a lot don’t hesitate.

+ Have you watched Fleabag? I enjoyed the second season (hello, hot priest!) more than the first. But, there’s no denying that Phoebe Waller-Bridge is a genius writer and hysterical to watch. With only six episodes per season at 25 minutes each, it’s a no-brainer for your next binge. It is pretty crude, so consider yourself warned if that’s not your thing.

Ooh that palette is pretty! I am sorry that you were a little disappointed in Nashville but I am glad that you guys still had fun. Not all cities can be as great as Chicago haha. 🙂 I don’t know anything about Madewell jeans but they are popular. Maybe just try them and see how you like them. Otherwise you know that I could go on forever about a good pair of jeans haha. 🙂 Thanks for sharing and have a great day!

You made the right decision with your hair, it’s very cute on you! I’ve been curious about Allbirds, I may give them a try. Fleabag sounds like a good binge-worthy show with the colder weather coming!
