11 Things I Loved in August

Hey, hey September! I definitely had the intention of getting this post up yesterday, but with the holiday weekend/short workweek my brain can’t seem to figure out what day it is. You know how it is! On the upside, now I can linkup with Kristen while I chat about 11 things I loved in August. Let’s do this.

11 Things I Loved in August

Style

These Universal Thread tees are some of the best t-shirts I’ve ever worn. AND THEY’RE ONLY $8. You can bet a million I’ll be buying every color (I have olive green and gray so far).

It’s no secret that I swear by American Eagle jeans. For fall, I’m digging distressed jeans that are still closed up (no leg showing). This is both practical for the cooler months, and I don’t have to worry about my leg breaking through the distressing … which inevitably happens every time.

Netflix Movies

Can we just agree that Netflix is killing it right now with original movies?!

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. Loved it! I’m probably bias since it’s one of my favorite books and I have a major girl crush on Lily James, so I was going to enjoy it regardless. They changed a massive amount from the book, but it worked.

To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before. First Set It Up, and now this! Netflix is saving the forgotten rom-com genre, and I’m all here for it. This one is basically a new-age Sixteen Candles. I’m obsessed and already counting down until I can watch it again. The music, color palette, chemistry between the actors … it all was perfection, in my opinion. Can’t wait to read the book!

Beauty & Skin Care

This No. 7 micro-dermabrasion exfoliator and pore-minimizing serum have taken my skin care routine to a new level. I’m thrilled with the results so far! Probably will do a dedicated post in the future.

Any other followers of Emily at Beauty Broadcast on YouTube? Her collaboration with Makeup Revolution was so exciting! I’ve followed her channel for 10+ years now, and it’s awesome to see good things happen to great people. There’s nobody else that deserves this opportunity more. I picked up The Needs palette – the packaging is just too pretty – and love it! The colors are a great transition into fall. Plus the ease of having everything you need in one palette. Gee, it’s like she designed it that way. 😉

I forgot how much I love Chinchilly from Essie.

Favorite End-of-Summer Moments

Our deck is finished! Ryan has some last touches to do, but the overall foundation and new railing is done. We love it and look forward to taking advantage of it next summer.

Ryan surprised me at the beginning of August with tickets to Sugarland. This was so fun because we bought tickets and went to the concert in the same day – we’re never that spontaneous, ha! – but also because it was in celebration of our first date 10 years ago when we also saw them in concert! It was sweet and nostalgic, and we had the best time.

Gardening is not my strong suit or my favorite thing to do, but being able to bring in those hydrangeas makes all the effort worth it! Aren’t they beautiful? This year was one of my best years with them – they were huge. Sadly, they finally bit the dust a few days ago, but we got to enjoy them inside for a solid couple weeks.

There’s my 11 things I loved in August! September is arguably one of my favorite months. I live for the change in season and getting everything ready/decorated for fall. We are, however, 25 days away from vacation so it’d be cool if that came sooner than later, too!

What were some of your favorite things last month?

I have bought a few of the A New Day t-shirts and they are very soft. I will look for those next time though! We have an “urban garden” and I actually really enjoy it. That is great about your new deck too! Since it looks like we’ve still got some nice weather you should be able to enjoy it a little bit now. 🙂

  5. I haven’t seen either of those movies! I’ll have to check them out. My favourite part of August was going to the Netherlands and Denmark!
