Coffee Chat No. 13 | A Bit of a Brain Dump

Hi! Hope your weekend was good. My mind has been a bit all over the place and has made it difficult to concentrate … translate sitting at the computer to focus on putting out decent blog content has been at the bottom of my priority list. What can I say? Summer is almost over, so I’m trying to soak it up while I can! Please tell me I’m not alone. Anyway, that being said today is a bit of a brain dump-style coffee chat so settle in!

Coffee Chat No. 9

Can anyone else believe that we’re in the second-to-last week of August?! What. Is. Happening. Seeing everyone head back to school makes me ridiculously nostalgic – yeah, I was that kid that was excited to go back to class. Now, I just have to settle with buying a new pack of pens to give me the same sort of feeling. Adulthood, it’s weird sometimes.

I realize it has been a while since I’ve shared anything about my sweet Finn – what kind of dog mom am I?! He had his annual checkup and vaccinations last week, and he’s healthy as can be! Not that I was worried, but it’s always a reassurance to know for sure.

Has anyone tried Amazon Prime Wardrobe? I’d love to give it a shot but am interested to hear other experiences. I’m particularly interested in the Daily Ritual line. Looks like there’s some good quality basics there!

One of my favorite binge-worthy shows almost is back for season two!

I just discovered Chelsea’s blog and am totally digging her style/aesthetic. Not to mention HER HAIR. It was my inspiration for my appointment this past Friday.

We made this slow cooker shredded barbecue chicken over the weekend, and it was delicious! An easy staple that will take us well into the fall, I’m sure. Would you be interested in seeing a roundup of some of our recent favorite recipes and/or a monthly meal plan type of thing? Sharing my favorite cookbooks seemed to be a hit, so just let me know what you think!

What plans do you have to finish out the summer on a happy note? We’re (a.k.a. Ryan) trying to finish up our deck – not sure I ever mentioned that that was our big “house” project for the season. It has been a process for him, but it’s going to look great when finished! Hopefully we’ll finally be able to enjoy our backyard some more. Beyond that, we’re just doing whatever we feel like – beach days, mini golf, shopping, etc. We have our anniversary vacation to look forward to the first week of October, so there’s no real push to do anything major!

If you made it this far, I tip my hat to you. Thanks for checking in today, and hope to see you back soon!

I always feel melancholy this time of year as well, summer goes by way too fast. And yes, you were that kid who always looked forward to the beginning of school! I’ve tried the Amazon Prime Wardrobe, I guess it’s great if you want to “try on” a few things before buying, but the wait time is a little longer. So glad Finn is healthy (there was no doubt!), and I’m always up for new recipes!

@Disneyland is full of hidden scenes and little details. This area in particular, right around the corner from Fantasyland, was my favorite of them all! Maybe because we were there early before the crowds came pouring in, or maybe I was taking a moment to be nostalgic ... either way this was the first time in a few months that I felt happy and 100% myself. Perhaps that’s the magic of Disney that Walt always talked about. #adultsatdisney #disneyland

  • I can’t stop obsessing over this book! It’s Behind-the-Music meets Almost Famous, and I had to constantly remind myself that I wasn’t reading an interview in Rolling Stone Magazine. I just love when a book comes around that makes me fall further in love with reading than I already am. Have you read it? What are you #currentlyreading? #bookworm #bookstagram
