New (and Rediscovered!) Products in My Summer Makeup Bag

While my blog has shifted more toward lifestyle-based content lately, I can’t deny the original reason why I started this space – to talk about and share my love for all things beauty! Makeup is my third true love (behind Ryan and Finn, of course 😉 ), and it’s one of my biggest passions. I’m convinced that given different timing in life I would be a makeup artist. ANYWAY! All that to say that I’m here to share some new and rediscovered products in my summer makeup bag. I’ve been loving how quick and easy these products make my daily routine!

New and Rediscovered Products in My Summer Makeup Bag
IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream With SPF 50+. Shade Light. I vaguely remember trying this a few years back and being part of the minority that wasn’t a fan; however, I recently returned to it since my skin is on the drier side these days and holy crap I get the hype now. Two pumps gives me somewhere between medium-to-full coverage while still feeling light and looking natural. Plus now I don’t have to worry about an extra SPF. I use a round top kabuki brush to apply it.

Milani Eyeshadow Primer. Emily from Beauty Broadcast always raves about this stuff – definitely a miracle worker for oily eyelids/summer eye makeup. You need only a pea-size amount for both eyes, and it blends out so smoothly. My eyelids are typically an oil-slick, so the fact that I’ve had zero issues with creasing/wear-off since starting to use this product says something.

Maybelline Color Tattoo Eyeshadow in Bad to the Bronze. An oldie but SUCH a goodie. I randomly dug this out of one of my vanity drawers and was instantly reminded what a dream cream shadows are for summer (and in general, really). I just use my ring finger to apply and blend. Fast, easy and effective. I’m late to the game to know that these also come in a crayon formula, so that’s obviously happening next time I’m at the store.

Tartelette 2 In Bloom Clay Eyeshadow Palette. I’ve mentioned this palette already here and here, but it’s worth talking about again because it’s perfect. Seriously. I don’t think I’ve ever felt this way toward an eyeshadow palette. And, I have a lot of eyeshadow palettes. The colors will work for everyone and everything, and the formula is just a dream. The packaging/size/huge mirror are ideal for traveling. It’s an all-around win! P.S. paired with the above cream shadow, I use either Jetsetter or Smarty Pants in my crease and Charmer as a brow/inner-eye highlight.

MAC Lipstick in Syrup. Another old-time favorite that I’ve been using on the regular again. It’s the perfect light/mid-tone pink with the slightest purple undertone. The lustre formula makes it hydrating and glossy on my lips, which is a nice change for summer.

Here’s a quick iPhone selfie (unedited/no filters) that I snapped this past weekend so you can see all these products in action.

You can’t see the eye makeup because of my hooded lids, but it’s there. I promise.

Let me bring you in on a secret. My skin is an absolute mess right now (dryness, acne, scarring), so I couldn’t believe how decent it looked when I took a look back at my camera roll. That CC cream is a miracle worker! Take that with you if it’s the only thing you remember from this post.

And, those are the new and rediscovered products in my summer makeup bag! Do you change up your beauty routine for summer? What products are you continually grabbing for during the warmer months?

That selfie is gorgeous! I haven’t tried any of these products. I looked into the CC cream but stayed with my foundation when I saw it was more expensive.

Thank you so much! I don’t typically splurge on higher-end cosmetics these days, but the CC cream was definitely worth it.

Definitely give this one a go! I never thought I’d like something like that since I like more coverage, but it’s really great.

I had no idea that the tattoo shadow came in a crayon…have I been living under a rock? I am so pumped for my next Target trip now lol. The CC cream looks good on you! My skin is a piece right now. I am laughing at hooded lids – I remember when you first became obsessed.

Syrup is seriously such a perfect shade, and works so well year round as well! I’ll have to keep the Tartlette In Bloom 2 in mind when the Sephora sale rolls around. I’m hitting pan on a lot of my favorite shades in my Naked palettes, and it’s so sad!

You’re right, it is a great shade for any time of year – I’m so glad I found it hidden in my stash! I think you’d enjoy the Tartlette palette, it’s SO good.

I have the CC+ cream from It Cosmetics but I have to use with a mattifying primer lol Otherwise I am oily grease ball. I do want to try the Maybelline Color Tattoo Eyeshadow. Looks so good.

The CC cream had the same effect when my skin was a little oilier! I do still set it with a powder and setting spray and that seems to do the trick.
