Hey, hey! It has been a quick-minute since I allowed myself to refresh my makeup collection, so I’ve been over here testing new products and gathering my thoughts on everything. There’s a lot to share and talk about, so let’s kick off the week with a chat about new makeup that I’m trying, loving and disliking!

What I’m Trying
Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer (shade Linen). I’ve heard both rave and horrible reviews on this stuff; so far, I’m somewhere in between. The coverage is solid medium-to-buildable, but it seems to sit on my skin without ever setting into place. The applicator also takes some time to get used to – I feel like it adds an extra five minutes to my makeup routine. If I had to guess, I probably will end up returning this foundation, but I want to give it a solid week or so before making a final decision.
NYX Worth the Hype Volumizing & Lengthening Mascara. This reminds me a lot of Loreal’s Voluminous Mascara minus the super wet formula. The brushes almost are identical. This seems to just be okay – it doesn’t do life-changing things for my lashes, and for me it works best when layered with another mascara.
What I’m Loving
Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water. I’ve always been a huge fan of setting sprays, but this is the first one that has ever helped both hydrate, prime AND set my face! I probably use way too much before I apply my makeup because my skin just drinks it up.
Physician’s Formula Butter Bronzer (shade Bronzer). Yeah, yeah – I’m pretty late to the party with this one, but I’m here now and never leaving! I get it now why everyone says this is the best bronzer at the drugstore – blends like a dream, gives the perfect sun-kissed glow, and it smells like a tropical paradise. Just make sure you get the right shade! I initially had Light Bronze, and it didn’t even show up on my skin.
Makeup Revolution Brow Pomade (shade Blonde). This is THE drugstore dupe for the brow pomade from Anastasia Beverly Hills. It doesn’t budge or smudge once applied – I even have to work a little bit at night to remove it, so obviously it has great staying power.
NYX Suede Matte Lip Liner (shade Whipped Caviar). My current go-to shade of lip liner. It’s a great nude-pink/mauve color.
NYX Intense Butter Gloss (shade Tres Leches). The perfect complement to the above lip liner – this combo is what I’ve been wearing most days! I love that the formula is similar to the regular butter glosses, just slightly thicker and way more pigmented. Almost a liquid lipstick without actually being one (does that even make sense?).
What I’m Disliking
Physician’s Formula #InstaReady Full Coverage Concealer (shade Light). I had hopes that this was going to be a drugstore alternative to my all-time favorite MAC Pro Longwear concealer, but sadly no. The formula is super thick, hard to blend and drying for under the eyes. However, it does work surprisingly well as an eye shadow primer! So, there’s that if you need to use up the product like I do.
NYX Matte Lipstick – just the packaging! Okay, I actually love the shade that I have this product in (that same Whipped Caviar), but the packaging straight up sucks. Maybe mine is a fluke, but the lipstick doesn’t stay extended when I’m trying to apply it! I practically have to hold the lipstick part itself to keep it from twisting back down. Lip brushes are not my cup of tea, but I’m going to have to start using one with this to avoid the packaging annoyance.
