Even if I’m not washing my hair, it’s a few minutes that I can be left alone to calm down and clear my head. What better way to relax than to slip out of your work clothes or skinny jeans and into your favorite lounge-wear? I don’t know about you, but I kind of live for this time of day. Come 5 p.m., no matter what I’m in the middle of doing I almost always take a break to put sweatpants on. The simple change of clothes instantly puts me in a more relaxed, comfortable mindset.
DO SOMETHING FOR YOU.
After a long day (or really, any type of day), I’m a firm believer in a little “me” time. No matter what it is – reading, cooking, watching TV, knitting, etc. – indulging in something that’s solely for you can help to get your mind off the day’s earlier activities to settle in for a chill evening. A glass of vino during your chosen activity and/or doggy snuggles usually doesn’t hurt either.
The best part about my three ways to unwind after a long day is that you can do them anywhere! I tend to get a little stressed when traveling, so I try to follow these three steps even when we’re away.
