5 Things I Want to Do This Summer

The best season of the year officially starts tomorrow! To celebrate, I’m kicking off the week with 5 things I want to do this summer.

5 Things I Want to Do This Summer

Last year wandering the gardens of The Paine
shirt is from the G.H. Bass outlet | shorts | sneakers | sunnies | hair tutorial

| 1. Spend a weekend at the lake. Done! We’re headed to Ryan’s family’s lake house for a couple days the weekend before the 4th. It has been a couple years since I’ve been up there, so I’m looking forward to boating, fishing and walking Finn all over the place. And, a good book or two.

| 2. Go to a concert. We typically try to attend one live performance a year.Β Remember last year’s concert-going experience? Still one of the best nights. We just bought tickets for this year’s main event! We’re headed to Chicago in a few weeks to see Maren Morris and Sam Hunt at Tinley Park. The word excited is a complete understatement. I’m sure I’ll still wear some variation of this go-to outfit.

| 3. Rent bikes and go on a trail ride. Ryan and I ALWAYS say how much we miss riding bikes. We’re hesitant to make an investment in our own because we don’t want them to just gather dust in the garage …. #truelife. Rather, it’d be great to rent bikes and go for a long ride on one of our nearby trails. A stop for ice cream along the way would be an added bonus. πŸ˜‰

| 4. Run my first 5k race. Another activity on this list that’s already planned! I can’t wait for this experience at the end of July. If you missed it, I shared my four-week progress and training plan in last Friday’s post.

| 5. Go berry picking. We are surrounded by small local farms, so this would be such a fun day-date activity. Strawberries, blueberries … I don’t really care what kind of berries! It just seems like a unique experience, and then I’d have an excuse to bake a homemade dessert.

Sharing the 5 things I want to do this summer make it finally seem like this fun season is here. Now here’s to hoping that the rain and storms quit so we can get out to enjoy the sunshine all summer long!

What are your top must-do’s for the summer?

Psst … also check out my top 8 spring bucket list for more warm weather activities. I crushed almost every one of these!

Ditto on lake time and bike rides! I’m also hoping to get to more farmer’s markets! Good for you on the 5K – this heat lately has kept me inside on the yoga mat!

Spend a weekend at the lake is I think the best summer activity, we all love to do that.

Those sound so fun! I ran my first 5K last year and felt so behind (most of my friends had done multiple) so I’m glad to hear I wasn’t the only one who waited to run one! πŸ™‚ I trained for a few weeks and was so proud when I finished and ran the entire time. I’m really not a runner, so it was quite the accomplishment. My husband and I just booked tickets for a concert next month, but it is indoors, so not as much of a summer event.

That makes me feel better that I’m also not the only one who hasn’t run a 5k – ha! My goal is definitely just to finish, so hopefully this training pays off.

Lake weekends are the best! Berry picking is such a fun summer activity and renting bikes is the perfect idea – I always say I wish we had them but we wouldn’t use them enough.

Ice cream on a bike ride is always a must πŸ˜‰ so glad the best season is finally here!

I totally agree with you about not making investments in bikes! We made the investment and they literally just sit in our garage, and I can’t tell you the last time I actually rode my bike! Chris is planning on doing a sprint triathalon next year though, so hopefully he’ll be riding his more often!

I can definitely get behind all of these except maybe the 5k. πŸ˜‰ Sounds like you have a fun summer ahead lady!

I’m craving a lake day in a big way! All of these activities sound so fun! Berry picking would be the perfect date activity- makes me want to look up somewhere to go close by here!

I’m with you! It just sounds like something fun and cute to do. Can’t complain about all the fresh fruit then, either!

I love that you are running girl! It’s a lot of working training but so worth it in the end!

This is a fun list of things and seems very do-able! A couple of days at the lake would be wonderful about now (at my own lake house, a woman can dream, right?!) I hope you and Ryan get to do every single thing this summer that makes you happy!

  13. 6.19.17

Sounds like some great plans! Love summertime! I also would like to go to some sort of concert.
