And, we’re at the start of another week. Welcome back! I hope everyone had a good weekend. It’s been a while since I sat down to have an old school beauty chat with you, so today we’re talking all about a few new drugstore beauty buys.
Drugstore beauty products have been my jam lately because, well let’s face it – budgets are tight! And, there are just other things these days that I’d rather spend money on. Luckily for me (and all of us!), the drugstore has SO many great beauty items right now so there’s no sacrifice of quality. Let’s get into it!
Face | As I mentioned in a recent weekend links and loves, the L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte foundation has been my go-to. You guys, I’m not exaggerating when I say this is just as good (if not better) than my holy grail Estee Lauder Double Wear Light. The coverage is incredible while still being lightweight, and it lasts all day. No touch ups required! I use the pink L’Oreal makeup sponge to apply the foundation, and this is a dream team duo. It has been a few years since I’ve used the brand name Beautyblender, but this is pretty dang comparable if my memory serves correctly.
Cheeks | Pinterest keeps telling me that a dupe for my ride-or-die blush, Tarte Amazonian Clay in Exposed, is Milani Powder Blush in Romantic Rose. So naturally, I tracked the Milani blush down to give it a go. The colors between Exposed and Romantic Rose are similar, but the Milani blush doesn’t exactly stand up to it’s high-end sister. It’s definitely not as pigmented, and I find that the color fades after a few hours. That said, it’s still a nice formula for a drugstore blush. I get the most use out of it on lighter-makeup days.
Eyes | I’ve been using the Wet n Wild Photo Focus Eyeshadow Primer for a while, but I never mentioned it on here. Silly me because this is a GREAT drugstore eye primer! I have ridiculously oily eyelids, and this keeps my shadow intact with no creasing for the whole day. My only gripe is the tube packaging, but it still works. I also finally found the cult favorite Maybelline Full ‘N Soft Mascara. On its own, it leaves my lashes long with a fluttery effect. I prefer to use it as a second coat over another mascara to help build volume.
Lips | I’m still in love with the Wet n Wild MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Matte Lipstick. In case you missed, it, check out my less than $12 mauve-nude lip combo to see the product in action. I’ve since also purchased Nudist Peach and Berry Recognize. Seriously, for $4 you can’t go wrong.
Once or twice a week, I use the Aveeno 60-Second In-Shower Facial instead of my normal cleanser. This stuff is oil-free and safe for sensitive skin like most Aveeno products. It’s amazing! My face feels baby bottom-smooth after I rinse the cleanser off. In addition to that product, I use the Acure Facial Brightening Scrub once a week after my regular cleanser. This product is a little grittier, so I know it’s scrubbing away dry skin and helping to even out any dull spots. I’ve noticed a few minor breakouts from both these products, but I believe it’s because they’re working to reveal fresher, healthier skin. I’d say these products would work on any skin type!
Whew – chatting about my new drugstore beauty buys got a little more long-winded than I anticipated. 😉 Hopefully this helps give you an idea of what to look for and pick up on your next trip down the drugstore beauty aisle!
