Modern Farmhouse Master Bedroom Reveal

At last! It’s here! Our modern farmhouse master bedroom reveal.

Modern Farmhouse Master Bedroom Reveal
Per the usual, this project took a little longer than anticipated. Not for any particular reason, but life happens – ya know? You can see the original design inspiration in this post. Anyways, we wrapped things up about a month ago and while I still have some decorating to do, I couldn’t wait any longer to get it up here!

You know the drill by now – let’s first take a look at where we started. It cracks me up that for a split second I didn’t want our bed in between the two windows. Duh, Karly – this room was built to be set up that way! But, you never know until you try. By the way, these pictures are from when we first moved in. We did paint the walls and move the furniture again, but I can’t seem to find pictures of that. Oops!

And, let me just say a final ode to our black furniture. Here’s the thing – it was beautiful, quality-made furniture. If Ryan would’ve agreed to the same set in white back when we bought it, we’d still have it. Ryan finally sees things my way. 😉 I’m glad that we were able to sell the furniture on Craigslist for a good price. Actually, that money offset almost everything new that we bought so this was a pretty budget-friendly project. #winning

Enough of my blabbing. Here’s our new modern farmhouse master bedroom!

I pretty much always say this, but it’s amazing what a coat of paint and lots of white touches can do for a room. This room doesn’t get the best natural light, but the whole space feels brighter now with the light color scheme. I also made sure to add in natural wood tones with accessories for texture and some added warmth. Ladies, this is a good way to convince your man that an all-white room won’t be too girly!

My favorite new addition to the room is the wicker sitting chair that we picked up from IKEA. I knew that I wanted a little corner on “my” side of the room to be able to finish getting ready or whatever. I now sit in this corner all the time! It’s right next to the window, so it’s a peaceful spot to enjoy a cup of coffee or do a little reading. I still need to add decor on the wall there, but I don’t mind the empty space either.

Oh, and our new alternative down comforter? That might as well be renamed as Finley’s dog bed. He is OBSESSED with that comforter, no joke. At night, he burrows himself into the folds to create a little blanket and pillow situation for himself. It’s pretty much the cutest thing ever. Maybe that’s why I can’t bring myself to tell him to move so we actually can use the comforter.

Love the room. Where did you get your white dresser?

      Hi, Beverley –
Thank you! The dresser is from Steinhafel’s. It’s linked under the source list at the end of the post.
      Thanks for stopping by!

I absolutely love this! My bf and I are moving into a townhouse tomorrow that we’ve purchased and this is exactly what I envision for our space. Thanks for sharing!

I seriously could not love this anymore! Every little touch is perfection. Love that Finn makes a little bed for himself, I can never kick Brady off our bed either – even though he’s 80 pounds, ha!

You guys did such an awesome job– love all of the details, especially the headboard you went with and the light fixture! We’re currently debating over gray paint for our kitchen (so hard to choose), and I love the color you went with in here.

    • 5.18.17

Thank you so much! It took me FOREVER to find that light fixture. I knew that I wanted some sort of chandelier/orb, but it’s hard to find one that’s semi-flush so it doesn’t hang too low. Popular Grey is literally the perfect grey paint color – you can’t go wrong with it!

I love your bedroom makeover! So calm and cozy feeling! I absolutely love the way you added decor to the dresser. I have been wondering what to put in the corner of our bedroom. I like the wicker chair idea!

    • 5.18.17

Thanks, lady! Since we finally got a full-length mirror for in there, I didn’t want a mirror over the dresser so it wasn’t overkill. I actually just googled pictures of Fixer Upper bedrooms and got the idea for the wood arch from there! I love that wicker chair, it’s actually pretty comfortable!

Your bedroom turned out so beautifully, and your so right that a little bit of white and a change in paint color can really transform a room! And Dart’s the same way when it comes to our comforter. He loves to burrow in there at night, until he gets to hot and has to move around again!

    • 5.18.17

Thank you! There must be a thing with dogs and comforters – it seriously cracks me up how much Finn loves ours!

  12. 5.17.17

You knowwww how eager I was to read this post! Might be sending it to my husband, to convince him why all white is a good thing;)! Love how you hung the curtains, and that mirror is gorgeous! The natural wood pieces add the perfect little touch!

    • 5.18.17

Hahaha, I love that I’m your resource to convince your husband of all things white decor. 😉 I always hang curtains high above windows! It tricks the eye to make the windows seem taller than they really are. Plus, I think it adds a little bit of drama.

Thank you so much, friend! I actually found that wood sign at a craft fair with my mom more than a year ago. It has been packed away just waiting to be hung!
