Happy Monday, all! Even though the weather is acting otherwise, the official first day of spring only is a week away. Hard to believe, right? It’s always about this time that I’m ready for a change in my makeup routine, such as lighter foundations and peachy shades of blush. What I’m not ready to part with, though are my berry shades of lip products. Most people save plums and berry lip hues for fall and winter, but I find this to be an ultra-flattering color for any season! All you need are the right products, so today I’m sharing my four favorite lippies to get berry-ready lips for spring.
If you’re looking for more of a gloss that only gives a subtle wash of color, look no further than the NYX Butter Gloss in Strawberry Parfait. This color leans more toward the pink end of things and is a nice finishing touch over bare lips.
I previously did a whole post about day-to-night lips with the Neutrogena® MoistureSmooth Color Sticks, and the shade Deep Plum continues to be one of my go-to products. The best part about this lippie is that it has a bit more color payoff than a gloss, but it’s still ridiculously moisturizing and hydrating on the lips. I only applied one coat of product for this post, and then I lightly blotted for more of a stain-effect. This trick helps keep any berry lip hue from looking too vampy.
One of my all-time favorite lipstick shades, no matter the color family, is Blushing Berry from the L’Oreal Colour Riche line. It’s the perfect in between color that works for daytime and can slightly be built up for a more dramatic effect at night. I’ve even layered the NYX Strawberry Parfait over this lipstick (you can see that in this old post here), for the ultimate berry/pink hue. Here, again, I made sure to blot to keep the color light and fresh.
Lastly, thanks to Influenster* I recently had the opportunity to test a couple shades of Burberry’s new Liquid Lip Velvet collection. I admit that I’m not typically a fan of liquid lipsticks since they can be too drying, but these products don’t feel that way at all! The description even calls it a “whipped lip cream,” and I would agree that the texture is light and airy that takes an extra second to dry down on the lips. The shade Bright Plum is great for a spring date night since you’ll get the most color payoff. If you want a little extra staying power, just pair it with the Burberry Lip Definer Pencil in the same color – this is a berry power duo that won’t smudge or come off!
Per the norm with most of the products that I share here, three of the four lippies can be found on your next trip to Target or the drugstore so it’s easy peasy to get berry-ready lips for spring!
