I have something so fun to share with you today! Back when I posted about our renovated sitting room, I knew that the room was still missing a few things (and, it still is!). But, since that was right before the holidays I just left it as is. After doing some digging around Pinterest, I discovered exactly what I wanted to add in the sitting room. And, that’s why we’re here today – I give you our DIY faux fireplace reveal!
Isn’t she a dream?! It’s amazing how a relatively simple piece can transform the entire mood of the room. The faux fireplace adds the right amount of farmhouse charm that I’m always after, and it provides a much-needed focal point for the room. Now, it’s practically the first thing that you see when you walk into our house!
I wish that we could take credit for this project, but I’m more than happy to give credit where it is deserved! Kristi from Making it in the Mountains is the mastermind behind this DIY. I found her tutorial from a guest post on AKA Design. If you check out her original photo, I even tried to mimic her decor styling since I loved it so much.
And, obviously, I have to thank my handy husband Ryan for making this project come to fruition. I think he followed the tutorial almost exactly, but knowing him he probably made a few adjustments. 😉 It actually was a simple DIY that was finished in only a couple days!
I spy a lens cap on the coffee table … oops!
As if I didn’t love this room so much already, our DIY faux fireplace makes me love this space that much more! This is now where I spend a majority of my mornings with a cup of coffee and Finley snuggles (of course). I also find myself in here more times than not when I want some quiet time to read or brainstorm new ideas. Never did I think that I’d have such a cozy little retreat in my own home!
I linked to what I could below, but let me know if you have any other questions!

This is incredible!! It really adds so much to the room! I’ve always wanted a fireplace but for our old house it would be a big undertaking to get one installed. I’m totally going to get my Dad to help me build one of these for our dining room over the summer!
Yes! It’s a pretty simple project and perfect for a dining room!
I love seeing all your home renovations! You kept with a theme and I love that 🙂 Can’t wait to stalk the blog for more!!

That is such a good idea, and it doesn’t look too hard! I can only imagine that added vibe it gives the room:) Loving your house more and more!
You are so sweet, thank you! It really wasn’t difficult at all. Ryan said the most challenging part was the arch, but after that it’s basically just building a box!
Oh my gosh, this looks amazing! I can’t believe it’s a DIY! xx
Thanks, girl! Gotta love those DIY’s! 🙂
Love this! I’ve been wanting to do a faux fireplace too and this one looks so good!

Yes! You totally should do it! It’s such a nice accent piece.
LOVE! We didn’t have an option to add a fireplace when building our home, so we bought an electric one for the sitting room/living room because it truly transforms the room. Plus it’s the perfect piece for seasonal decor. This came out amazing, what a great idea <3

That’s awesome that you thought of the electric fireplace! We love our wood burning one in the family room, so we figured we’d love one in this room, too. Although, I like that I don’t actually have to clean it. 😉
This looks gorgeous!!!
Thanks so much!
OMG, this is amazing!! What a great idea! Can Ryan come build one of these in my bedroom?! 😉
Funny story – I already want him to build another one for our bedroom, too! 🙂
Wow, such a dream! I love how it turned out!!

Thanks, lady!
Your faux fire place turned out so pretty! I love it! And way to go Ryan for putting everything together! It’s always the best when you work together to get projects done!
Yes, it really is! We had a lot of fun with this one.
What a cool idea! I miss having a fireplace and this is such a cute solution!
It really is a good solution if you don’t have a fireplace! Plus, you don’t have to worry about cleaning it – that’s a bonus in itself. 🙂
This really turned out great and is the perfect touch for your sitting room! Ryan did a wonderful job creating it and of course you put your special touch on the décor – love it all!
Thank you! It definitely adds something special to that area.
This is so awesome- it definitely looks like an actual fireplace you guys closed off! What a great DIY project and addition to your room!
Thank you! I just love the focal point that it gives that room now.
That is SO cool! I had no idea it was faux when I first saw a pic on your Insta. It looks so good and is such a great alternative to a real one…and much more cost effective! Love this! <3, Pamela Sequins & Sea Breezes
Thanks, lady! I appreciate that! And, heck yes to cost effective, that’s what we’re all about these days.
I love it!! I’m all about having a fireplace so this would be exactly what I would do if we had a house without one! You guys did a great job! I love how you decorated the mantel too!
Thanks, girlfriend! We love our real fireplace in the family room, so we figured a faux one would add that same coziness and charm to this room.
It is GORGEOUS! I can’t believe how well this turned out! You have such a gorgeous home and I love getting to see updates!
