My 3 Favorite Blogs for Farmhouse Decor Inspiration

Thanks to blogs and Pinterest, it’s really hard to claim ownership of anything “original” these days. I get so many comments on our home and decor style, and while some of it I did come up with myself, nine times out of 10 I probably found a picture and copied it the best I could! That’s why I thought it would be fun to share a quick post about my 3 favorite blogs for farmhouse decor inspiration. I reference these blogs weekly – sometimes even daily! – when I’m feeling stuck on something in our own home. They each have their own unique style but best represent the overall cozy, farmhouse feeling that I try to achieve in each of our rooms.

My 3 Favorite Blogs for Farmhouse Decor Inspiration - Home Where Our Story Begins DIY Wood Sign

I’ve been sharing more scenes from around our own home over on Instagram. I made this sign all on my own!

Love Grows Wild | I was a little late to the game with Liz’s blog, but now it’s my go-to source for everything and anything farmhouse-related. Even if you’re not into farmhouse style, you’ll enjoy the clean lines and light and bright decor. I received Liz’s newly-released book for Christmas, and it’s basically the holy grail for any farmhouse lover or DIY enthusiast. A majority of my favorite recent posts were rounded up in her best of 2016, so be sure to check it out!

Little Vintage Nest | An 80’s fixer upper transformed into a charming farmhouse? Hmm … that sounds familiar! 😉 Seriously, though – Sarah’s blog is easy to relate to. Everything that she shares is accessible and relatively affordable. She recently wrote a post about where to find affordable vintage decor, and it opened up a whole new world to me on Amazon. Who knew?!

Liz Marie Blog | No farmhouse decor inspiration post would be complete without including this gem. Since Liz Marie lives in an actual rustic farmhouse, this site is more of an escape for me. It’s fun to think about living in a similar house someday and to follow along with all their renovations. My favorite posts of hers are shopping roundups, including affordable chunky wool blankets and gift guide for farmhouse lovers. Also, anyone up for a road trip to Michigan to visit her shop? I’m kinda dying to go.

Yes to the road trip! My mom was actually just talking about her shop – it’s relatively close to the place where we vacation in Michigan and may be able to stop by this summer!

I love the farmhouse style too! One of my favourite home decor blogs is Chris Loves Julia. They are more on the modern style but I love their signature look!

Umm yes please come visit Michigan and we can go to Liz’s shop! She lives about 30 minutes from me and I met her last fall at one of her pop up shops – she’s so sweet!

I don’t think I follow nearly enough home decor blogs! This gave me a few to start on, but that’s definitely something I want to explore more. You can say you get inspiration elsewhere, but you put it all together so effortlessly! You got skill, girl!

oh this is awesome – i don’t know or follow any of these blogs, but i will keep them in mind when we get a new house. i agree about finding a picture and copying it – most of the time, i use pinterest and the like to find out what i don’t like and try to find similar rooms/set ups because they are easier to copy or get an idea.

    • 1.21.17

I so agree with you! It just helps to have a visual. Especially when I’m shopping because then I can reference the picture on my phone and buy decor that is similar to get the same feel or whatever.

It’s fun to have some new blogs to explore, and these are all great and full of inspiration! The only problem is that I’m feeling the itch to change everything about my house (or maybe just a new house altogether!)

Yes, I know you’re feeling uninspired by your house! I hope you check these blogs out – these are all the ones that I told you about!

I looooooove the farmhouse look and wish that I was besties with Joanna Gaines so she could re-style my whole house. I’m looking into making our dining room more of a farmhouse feel, but need to find the right dining room set to pull the trigger on.

    • 1.21.17

It definitely takes some time! Have you looked at Birch Lane? That’s where our dining table is from, and they have a lot of pieces that are more that farmhouse/shabby chic feel.
