Currently | October 2016

Happy Monday, folks! I hope everyone had a great weekend. It has been a while since I just sat down to write and chat with all of you. So, let’s kick off the week with Currently … October 2016 edition.

Wearing …

all the fall things! Boots, military vests/jackets, blanket scarves – you name it. My fall closet staples are still my most-worn outfit, and I also seem to opt for cool and casual weekend wear when I don’t have to get dolled up. Plus, with the weather in the 70s one day and the 50s the next, fall layers are still a Midwest girl’s best friend.

Reading …

Today Will Be Different by Maria Semple. I’m only about 20% into it, but so far, it’s just okay. I also just finished The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware. For all the hype surrounding that book, I wasn’t overly impressed!

Watching …

This is Us. Shocking, I know! We, along with the rest of the world, fell in love with this show week one and continue to look forward to Tuesday nights. It’s refreshing to watch a well-written, fairly realistic show – you know? Besides that, I’m still a loyal fan to Project Runway. Any Erin and Dexter fans out there?

Listening to …

Carrie Underwood’s Storyteller album. I. Can’t. Stop. Listening. This might be my favorite album of hers yet. I also am addicted to Amazon Prime Music for the radio stations. My go-to stations are Maroon 5, Sam Hunt and Britney Spears (for the gym).

Wishing …

to get our family photos back! I am hoping it only will be another week or so at most. In the meantime, last year’s family photos that we took ourselves are tying me over.

Eating …

Zoodles! I can’t seem to get enough these days. My favorite way to prepare and eat them? Heat some olive oil in a saucepan, and then melt one to two tablespoons of butter. Add a handful of baby spinach, and sautee until cooked. Add some spaghetti sauce – my favorite is the traditional Prego Heart Healthy – and simmer until heated through. Then, add in some spices – basil, oregano, red pepper flakes, parsley, etc. Whatever your heart desires! Lastly, toss in the zoodles with the sauce and cook through for a couple minutes. Add some fresh Parmesan shavings, and you’re done! Quick, simple and delicious.

Drinking …

All our delicious wine from Door County! Don’t you worry – I have a travel guide coming later this week and will share my favorites.

Enjoying …

our half bathroom renovation! For once, this has been a relatively straight-forward and simple project. We decided to salvage the vanity and just paint and add new hardware to it. It’s amazing what a simple fix like that can do! Otherwise, a new toilet, light fixture, mirror and sink have been the only “major” purchases. Ryan is building the new vanity top, and it’s going to look just perfect when finished. I can’t wait!

Loving …

Carrie Underwood’s (obviously, I’m on a kick with her for some reason) haircut. I have a while now before my next haircut, but I’m seriously considering going for it this time. My last cut didn’t exactly turn out the way I hoped – I lasted about a week before being annoyed with hair all one length – so it might just be time to do something drastic. It’s just hair and grows back, right? We’ll see – I need to be confident first that I can pull off that type of cut!

Looking forward to …

a quick overnight trip to Schaumburg this coming weekend! We will be headed to IKEA (of course) to pick up the loveseat for our sitting room (check out our modern farmhouse sitting room design!). Otherwise, we will just hang with my parents for the night since it’s the last time we’ll probably see them until after Thanksgiving.

How was your weekend? What have you been up to lately?

Linking up with Biana & Meghan.
