It’s fall, y’all! While the temperatures still remain all over the place, I am in a total seasonal state-of-mind. We put out our outdoor fall decor this weekend, and that pretty much did it for me. I’ve enjoyed reading all the fall to-do lists the past couple weeks, so I thought it would be fun to put together my top 10 fall to do’s. Better yet, I already can check a few off the list!
Leaves, boots and a cup of coffee? Yes, please! | Photo via
1. Plan our wedding anniversary getaway. Check! We are headed to Door County, Wis., for a few days the first week of October (our anniversary is Oct. 5). We are trying Airbnb for the first time, and I can’t wait to unplug for a few days in this picturesque town. Another bonus is that it’s only a two-hour drive – I’m relieved we don’t have to deal with airports anymore this year!
2. Get updated family photos taken. Another check! We are scheduled for photos the Sunday after we get back from Door County. While it was fun and cost-saving to take our own photos last year, I wanted to leave it to a professional this year. This might be the last time that we have professional photos taken as just us and Finn, so I want to capture this time in our lives in the right way.
3. Go to the pumpkin patch and/or apple picking. While this certainly isn’t as fun as it would be with a little babe running around, I still enjoy it! It’s a time to enjoy the nice weather and take advantage of what the season has to offer.
4. Indulge in all the fall treats. There’s no better time than fall to indulge a little – pies, apple cider doughnuts, chocolate-covered pretzels, etc. The options are limitless, and I plan to stock the fridge and freezer to fill my fix.
5. Finish downstairs home renovations. Our life has been consumed by home renovations the past months. Our kitchen is almost finished, and we also are in the midst of furnishing our sitting room/dining room and renovating the half bathroom. We’d like to wrap everything up in the next month so that we can enjoy it. It won’t be long before winter hits, and we tackle our master bedroom.
6. Watch scary movies. This is about the only way that I celebrate Halloween anymore. It’s the perfect option for an at-home date night.
7. Find a new walking trail. The weather is so beautiful this time of year that I like to get Finn out as much as possible. I’d love to find a new nature walk for him to explore and enjoy a daily walk.
8. Get back to a budget. Home projects wreak havoc on your monthly budget. We always stick to our fixed expenses, but everything else has been a bit of a free-for-all. I want to get it back under control.
9. Continue the “great” house clean out. We’re still working toward living a more simplified, less clutter-filled life. There have been more trips to Goodwill at this point than I can count, and I feel like we’re making great progress.
10. Take a drive to see the fall colors. Northern Wisconsin has some of the best fall colors around. While we are sure to get a full fix of this in Door County, I’d like to drive around locally (maybe with a PSL in hand?) and enjoy what our town and those close by have to offer.
What’s on your fall to-do list?
I’m so excited for fall!! YAY!!!! 😀

Oh girl…I need to get back on a budget too – aye! Thanks for the reminder, and I’m excited for your anniversary trip! xx
Haha, glad we aren’t the only ones! I know you’ve been to Door County, so please send any recommendations!
oh your anniversary trip sounds awesome! we always do a huge trip so that we end up not having enough vacation time (or lets be real, money) to do small weekend just a drive away trips, and i really want to! that town looks gorgeous (yes, i googled).
why is it the last time you are taking photos just you and Finn?! DID I MISS SOMETHING.
i really need to do a huge house clean out. i do not know why we have so much stuff!
I love that you Googled Door County. Now, help me pack! And, we already chatted about the other thing – don’t you worry, nothing has been missed. 🙂

She takes gorgeous photos!
You’ve legitimately motivated me to update a few things in my kitchen- starting with painting the cabinets white! That’s officially on my fall to-do list, and I’m SO eager to get started! (Thanks for that!) I also can’t wait for fall colors around here. I’m worried we’ll jump to brown with the lack of rain, but the mountains have so much potential for some beauty!
Yeah! I hope you’ll share after you paint them!
Fall treats… YAASSSS! Give me all the caramel apples!
Heck yes!
Your getaway will be such fun and having professional photos every now and again are such a treat! So much to look forward to this season!
I agree with you! Lots to look forward to after such a crazy summer.
I’ve heard such great things about Door County, so fun especially this time of year! And you will never regret professional photos I think… also love to hear that it could be the last as just the 3 of you 😉
I’m surprised you’re the first person that said anything about that statement, lol. 🙂 So excited for Door County!
These are such fun things! Cannot wait to hear about your trip and see your photos. I am hoping to take some maternity ones myself. I always love baking fall items and going to the pumpkin patch too. Yay fall!

Great list and yay for a getaway! I’ve never been to Wisconsin even though it’s only a couple states away. 🙂 I’m hoping to get some home projects checked off our list before we’re stuck inside all winter too!
We are looking forward to our getaway! Nice to explore such a cute town so close to us.

I love fall! So so excited!

So many fun things on your list– one of the things I miss the most about living in the midwest is how gorgeous the colors are this time of the year!
They are so pretty! I can’t wait to head even further north than we already live to see them in their prime.
I love reading posts like this. Fall is definitely my favorite season and I take advantage of it for the Football and traveling!
Absolutely! It’s the perfect time of year!
Can’t wait to hear how you like your Airbnb experience and yes to all the coffee and pumpkin picking <3

We’re a little nervous about trying it for the first time, but I’m sure it will be great!
What a great list, the perfect mix of work and fun! I think this is truly the best time of year here in the midwest, the weather just makes it a pleasure to do so many things. Fall decor is first on my list, and then I get Finn!
Yes, only a couple more weeks until you get Finny!
Great list! I love everything about fall, especially the change in leaves. The midwest always has the prettiest change in trees.

I agree with you!
Fun list! I wish that we had pumpkin patches here in the city! I think that they do at the Lincoln Park Zoo though. I also bet that the foliage there is gorgeous. Yay to Door County too!! I hope that you had a nice weekend and have a great day!! 🙂
I bet Lincoln Park Zoo does some fun things around this time of year. 🙂
We’re trying Airbnb for our anniversary trip too! (October 3rd) Have so much fun!
Yeah! Happy early anniversary to you guys. Where are you headed?
This is a great list! I’m working through getting rid of excess clutter in our house too and heading to Goodwill. So excited for all the fall treats!
It’s so nice to get rid of stuff that is just taking up space!
I have so many things on my to-do list!
