With my skin finally in-check, I have found myself wearing less and less makeup. While I enjoy my newfound skin freedom and bare-faced confidence, I don’t enjoy the look of bare lashes. As a natural blonde, I have super light-haired eyelashes so without mascara, they easily can get lost with the rest of my facial features. When I heard about the new Rimmel Volume Colourist Mascara that claims to tint your lashes over time with results visible in as little as two weeks, I knew I had to give it a try.
To get an idea of what I started with, here is a before picture of my lashes from two weeks ago.
See how blonde they are?! With a full face of makeup, they definitely look a little out of place.
And, here’s how I looked after the first application of Rimmel Volume Colourist Mascara (I chose the shade Exreme Black). While I haven’t found the mascara to be the most voluminous formula that I’ve ever used, I do like the length and subtle lift that it gives my lashes.
Fast forward two weeks later to present day, and here are what my bare lashes look like now!
While it isn’t a drastic change (and, because of lighting, is much more noticeable in person than in photos), my lashes are a noticeable one to two shades darker than where I started. Now, especially on days that I’m makeup-free, all I have to do is curl my lashes for an extra pop of volume and I can be out the door feeling confident that my natural lashes are on display.
On days that I do choose to wear makeup, I have been going for the summer “no makeup” makeup look to keep from appearing too overdone. For my face, a lightweight sheer liquid foundation, a peachy blush and bronze-y highlight have been my go-to products.
For the eyes, I like to apply a light brown or taupe eye shadow with a fluffy brush to the crease of my lids. Since I have hooded eyes, this helps contour my lids and have them stand out more.
Then, I apply a thin line of liquid liner – right now, I’m loving Rimmel Colour Precise Eyeliner in Black – to the outer part of my eye to thicken up the lash line.
I also like to apply a flesh-tone pencil liner to my inner bottom waterline to open up my eyes and take away any redness. My holy grail product for this is Rimmel ScandalEyes Kohl Kajal Waterproof in Nude – I have used this product for years, and it never fails.
As a final step, I apply a couple coats of Rimmel Volume Colourist Mascara.
And, that completes my summer “no makeup” makeup look! It’s easy and quick and gives you the put-together look without feeling like you have a ton of products on your face.
All these Rimmel products can be found at your local Target store. And, guess what? You can receive an extra 25% off all Rimmel Eye featuring Volume Colourist Mascara when you download and use the Cartwheel app.

I’ve been seeing this mascara advertised everywhere and was wondering if it actually makes a difference! You look beautiful!!
What a neat product! I always feel like I need at least a little mascara because mine seem to disappear with it!
I agree with you! I feel the same way.

You are so sweet, thanks Ashley! I’ve been working hard at it. π
Your skin looks amazing! This is definitely the perfect no makeup-makeup look & that’s such a cool product if you have lighter lashes!
Thank YOU. That means so much. And, yes – this mascara is fantastic!
I love your “no makeup” makeup look for the summer! You look so pretty without looking really done up! I had no idea that a tinting mascara even existed, so I’ll have to check it out. I would love something that helped to tint my eyelashes so they look a little darker without something actually on them!
It’s such a great concept for a product, and even better that it’s affordable. I’ve been so happy with the results!
How great would it be to have permanently tinted eyelashes?! It’s about time they thought of a product like this. I’ll have to check it out! And you look gorgeous, per usual. π
Right?! I so agree. And, thank you!
Gorgeous look on you! I go for way less makeup in the summer and especially during the week – it’s so much easier and quick!
I couldn’t agree more – plus, it’s been so humid that I don’t want to bother with tons of makeup!
I love Rimmel! They’re one of the best dups out there for Urban Decay, in my opinion. I love all of their eye liners. I’ll have to try this mascara next!
I’m a huge fan of Rimmel, too! I swear by their lipsticks.
You look flawless! I tend to opt for less makeup during the week for sure, and this is the perfect look.

Love how simple this is, and these pictures are beautiful! I haven’t heard the trick of using a nude pencil under your eye, and definitely plan on doing that!
So sweet, thank you! And, yes – such a great trick, right? It really helps brighten everything up.
I love when you do makeup tutorials. I really need to check out this mascara, I am in the market for a new one.
Thanks, girlfriend! Definitely check this one out, it has been a good to me so far.
