Mother’s Day Brunch at The Paine Art Center & Gardens

Happy Monday! I hope that everybody had a nice weekend that was full of celebrating the special and influential women in our lives. My family made the drive to Wisconsin on Saturday for an early Mother’s Day brunch at the Paine Art Center and Gardens in Oshkosh.

You may remember me talking about this location from when I visited the Dressing Downton Abbey exhibit last summer, and more recently, when Ryan and I attended the annual Nutcracker in the Castle before Christmas. This is my very-favorite place in all of Wisconsin (at least, of what I’ve seen/visited so far) – I always feel like I’m transported to the English countryside when visiting this estate, and it was fun to attend a special event there with my family.

The brunch was held in the estate’s conservatory, which also is connected to the carriage house. I would love nothing more than to renew my vows at this location! The room was light and airy with floor-to-ceiling windows, which was to our added benefit since we lucked out with a picture-perfect spring day.

Following brunch, we toured the mansion and attended the opening day viewing of the latest exhibit, Audubon’s Birds of America. Photography isn’t allowed inside the mansion when a new exhibit is on display, but the first-edition drawings were something to be seen, and I never pass up an opportunity to walk through the different rooms of the mansion. I fall in love with it more every time I visit!

Afterward, we headed back outside to walk through the extensive grounds and gardens. Since it’s pretty early in the season, not everything was in bloom yet, such as the rose garden, but the tulips and magnolia trees more than made up for it.

And, of course, no Mother’s Day would be complete without some family photos. Ryan was away for the weekend, so this was the first time in forever that it was the original five of us. My dad was the designated cameraman, so unfortunately I don’t have any photos of him from the day! All photos also were taken with our iPhones.

The Paine Art Center & Gardens never fails to host fabulous events and exhibits, and I’m happy that I was able to share this one with my whole family in honor of my mom.

How was your weekend? Did you do anything special to celebrate your mom?
