Spring Date Night Makeup Tutorial

It has been a few months since my last StitchFix, and since I’m in the process of purging my closet and switching it over to spring and summer wear, I thought now was a good time as any to add a few new pieces to the mix.
I’m sure you’re all familiar with this service by now, but in case you aren’t, in a nutshell you pay a $20 styling fee to have five clothing and accessory items sent to your doorstop. You have three days to try on the pieces and decide what you do and do not want; whatever you don’t keep, you simply pack it up in the prepaid envelope and drop it in your local mailbox to return. The $20 styling credit is applied toward any items that you do keep, so I suggest that you always try to purchase at least one item from the box so you aren’t out that money.

If you recall, I was less-than-impressed with my December 2015 Fix, so I was a little skeptical this time around. I had a gift card from Christmas waiting to be used, so I kept my fingers crossed that it didn’t go to waste on pieces that I didn’t absolutely love.

I remembered to request the stylist that I like, Caitlin, and I left her a specific note that I was looking for neutral, spring tops that had sleeves. Well, she sure listened to my requests and nailed this fix.

Liverpool Bongiovi Chambray Top – $54.00
Verdict: Returned It
When I first saw this print in the box, my immediate thought was “hello, hippie-wear.” I was pleasantly surprised at how cute this shirt was on, though. I didn’t find the cut to be very flattering on my figure, which is why I returned it, but I could see it looking super cute with a pair of white skinnies or distressed cutoffs.

Chambrai Ramsdell Button Down Top – $58.00
Verdict: Returned It
There’s not a whole lot to say about this top. It was nice quality and fit great, but I already have a couple chambray shirts in my closet that I couldn’t justify purchasing another. So, back it went.

Loveappella McCally 3/4 Sleeve Raglan Knit Top – $54.00
Verdict: Kept It!
This was the top that I was most excited about, and I was even more thrilled when I put it on. First of all, it’s neutral and has stripes – that pretty much sums up my preferences. Second of all, the material is super soft and comfortable, which makes it perfect for everyday wear. I also am a fan of the cut – it reminds me of an old-school baseball tee.

Market & Spruce Cammy Deep V Neck Ribbed Knit Top – $44.00
Verdict: Kept It!
I live in tees, so I’m always happy to add another one to my collection. I love the ribbed material of this top and just like the striped top, I’m a fan of how this top is cut on the bottom (sorry, it’s hard to tell since I have my hand in my pocket). The high slits on either side, which creates a “bib”-like style, seems flattering on my figure, and it keeps the shirt from appearing too generic. Pretty sure I’ll be living in this come springtime.

Gentle Fawn Tressie Shirt Dress – $88.00
Verdict: Returned It
This is a dress and absolutely should not be worn with jeans, but I didn’t want to horrify all of you with my pale winter legs. I adored the print of this dress – it was girly and a bit bohemian, but I wasn’t sure how much wear I would get out of it. Plus, the arm openings were a tad big, which caused my bra to hang out. A bandeau would easily remedy that problem, but I just didn’t want to go through the hassle.

Stitch Fix Review March 2016

Overall, my stylist did a great job – the fact that I kept two of the five items made this my most successful StitchFix yet!
