Best in Beauty 2015 | Makeup (Face)

Happy Monday! Today, I’m bringing you the second installment of my best in beauty 2015 series, and we’re talking all about my favorite picks for face makeup.

Laying the base (literally) always has been the most important to me and is what I spend the most time on – a smooth, well-blended face makes way for a smoother application for all other makeup products, and it’s what people are most likely to notice first when they look at you. Some of these products have been long-time favorites of mine, while others were new-to-me products this year that stood out among the rest.

BB Cream, Light-Coverage Foundation, Full-Coverage Foundation | These three foundations were my most-reached for products throughout this year, and I love that they all are affordable and accessible at the drugstore. The BB cream provides surprisingly nice, lightweight coverage (it was a life-saver when we were in Puerto Rico), and the Neutrogena option is great for days when you want just a tad more coverage and the look of healthy, glowing skin. This medium-to-full coverage drugstore foundation beat out my most loved Estee Lauder foundation this year – it gives me a flawless face without ever feeling/looking too heavy or cakey, and it lasts all day long.

Under Eye Concealer, Blemish Concealer | I’ve sang the praises of this MAC concealer before for dark under eye circles (along with half the beauty blogger/vlogger community), so I’m just reiterating that it’s still the best and a product that I simply cannot live without. This drugstore concealer palette really came to the rescue this year, in particular the neutralizer shade – I tend to get very red and splotchy, and this shade in the palette helps cancel all that out before I put on my foundation and then conceal with a skin tone shade. This palette also is ideal for traveling – you have everything that you need!

Setting Spray, Pressed Powder | I was thrilled to see less expensive setting sprays come on the market this year, and this one by NYX is by far my favorite – it helps my makeup stay matte and last all day long just as well as it’s expensive Urban Decay counterpart. When I need a little extra help to set everything, my favorite MAC pressed powder still holds the reign in my collection – I have yet to find anything that compares to it!

Contour Stick, Bronzer | I only started to dabble in the world of contouring this year, and it doesn’t get much better than a cream formula in a stick – I literally draw on the parts of my face that I want to contour and blend away with a damp sponge. Easy as can be and flawless results! The Too Faced bronzer is another long-time favorite – it is a completely matte formula, so you won’t see any shimmer or sparkle left behind after applying to your face. It’s great for blending out any contour lines or just to add some warmth to the skin.

Drugstore Blush, High-End Blush, Highlighter | The formula of the L’Oreal True Match blushes are by far some of the best at the drugstore – the shade Bare Honey in particular is my favorite because not only is it a favorite of Blake Lively’s, it’s a great option on days that you don’t want a lot of color on your cheeks but still want some warmth and definition. Tarte’s blushes are still the most long-wearing formula that I’ve ever tried, and Exposed continues to be my most-reached for product. Lastly, this MAC highlighter quickly shot to the top of my favorites list after I picked it up during the summer – it is the most gorgeous shade of champagne with a hint of bronze, and it gives my cheekbones the prettiest hint of glow and shimmer. I use this practically everyday.

Next week, I’ll be sharing the rest of my makeup picks for eyes and lips!
