September Beauty Favorites (& a Fail!)

Another month has come and gone, and September definitely brought me some new goodies (and a fail!) in the beauty department.

If you follow me on Snapchat (@msinthemidwest), then you know that this hot styling brush has totally changed my daily hair routine – it basically gives you the look of a professional blowout all in the comfort of your own bathroom. After hearing many people rave about this shade of lipstick and most recently Kristen stating it’s a must-have from the drugstore, I finally found it at my local grocery store. The hype is real, people! It’s the perfect shade of pink, and the formula is creamy and lasts all day.
I rediscovered this high-end eyeshadow palette that has been sitting in my vanity drawer since last Christmas, and I’m mad at myself that I haven’t given it more love sooner! I don’t own any other MAC eyeshadows, but that probably will change now – these shadows blend like a dream, and the colors in this palette are perfect for fall. Sticking with eye products, I also had a major mascara score and a major mascara letdown. CoverGirl never ceases to amaze me with their mascaras, and their latest is no exception – although the brush might be small and thin, it definitely packs a punch for long, voluminous lashes. This Maybelline mascara on the other hand ended in a horrible, clumpy mess – the formula is way too thick and wet for my taste. I probably will try to dry out the tube a bit and try it again as a second finishing coat over another mascara.

  • It has been 84 years since it stopped raining in Wisconsin, so it seemed necessary to document the occasion. 💁🏼‍♀️ #thursdayvibes #loveloft
  • #Bookworms, rejoice! This is our kinda day! 📚 On #WorldBookDay, I simply want to say thank you to all authors. Your characters, stories and words change my life daily, and I can’t imagine a life without them. Happy reading to all! #bookstagram
  • “It’s no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then.” Alice, Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll
@Disneyland is full of hidden scenes and little details. This area in particular, right around the corner from Fantasyland, was my favorite of them all! Maybe because we were there early before the crowds came pouring in, or maybe I was taking a moment to be nostalgic ... either way this was the first time in a few months that I felt happy and 100% myself. Perhaps that’s the magic of Disney that Walt always talked about. #adultsatdisney #disneyland

  • I can’t stop obsessing over this book! It’s Behind-the-Music meets Almost Famous, and I had to constantly remind myself that I wasn’t reading an interview in Rolling Stone Magazine. I just love when a book comes around that makes me fall further in love with reading than I already am. Have you read it? What are you #currentlyreading? #bookworm #bookstagram
