5 Fall Essentials | Katie @ Katie Elizabeth Blog

Happy Tuesday! Continuing with guest posts today is Katie from Katie Elizabeth Blog. Katie was one of the first people that I “met” when I started blogging, and she is one of my very favorite people! From her home decor to her sense of style to her adorable pup Brady, her blog encompasses so many different topics that you’re bound to find something that you love. Enjoy!

Hey everyone!

I’m Katie from the Katie Elizabeth blog where I write about a variety of topics including (but not limited to!) life with my husband and Golden Retriever puppy in Michigan, my favorite recipes and my love for any and all beauty products.  I’m so excited to be here on Miss in the Midwest today!

Keeping in theme with Karly’s blog and her fabulous sense of style – one of my favorite things about her 🙂 – I’ve rounded up a few of what I would consider fall fashion staples.  The best part about these 5 items is that they’re all classic, versatile pieces that you can mix and match with anything and everything.  These are guaranteed to be total workhorses in your closet for years to come.

ONE | Military Jacket
It seemed only appropriate to start with the easily most worn item in my closet: the military jacket.  I wear mine with everything throughout those months where it’s kind of warm, kind of cold (aka now).  It’s a great layering piece and I love them so much that I actually have two!  While both of mine are a few years old now, some great reasonably priced options are this field jacket, this two pocket military jacket or this hooded camo version.

TWO | Booties

The bootie trend is still going strong and I’m not mad about it.  They’re super comfy, can be worn so many different ways (I’m loving them with dresses this fall) and they cost a little less than their riding boot counterparts.  There are so many awesome pairs out there that it’s hard to narrow it down, but I’m loving this short heeled pair, this leather (under $100!) pair, and I personally own these babies in black.  I wrote an entire post on my favorite boots earlier this fall if you want to check it out here.

THREE | Crossbody Bag

How did we operate before crossbody bags?  Holding on to our purses sounds like so much work now 😉  It’s all about going hands-free and you can do it with this Chloe bag knockoff, this fun fringe bag and this super pretty bordeaux bag I just picked up.

FOUR | Blanket Scarves

The bigger the better when it comes to blanket scarves is my motto!  Being in Michigan, it gets freezing cold and these things are my best friends.  I literally want everyone that I come across but the classic tartan version, this Zara check scarf and this one that comes in tons of different colors are my favorites.

FIVE | Vests

Another great layering piece that I can’t get enough of.  There are three vests I believe we all need (and I have all of them, ha!): this quilted down vest – I have it in the ever popular herringbone pattern -, a suede shearling vest and a faux fur vest.  These three will go with everything you can imagine.

What’s your favorite fall fashion staple?  Anything you’d add to the list?  Thanks so much to Karly for letting me take over for the day and please be sure to come on over and say hi sometime! 🙂

@Disneyland is full of hidden scenes and little details. This area in particular, right around the corner from Fantasyland, was my favorite of them all! Maybe because we were there early before the crowds came pouring in, or maybe I was taking a moment to be nostalgic ... either way this was the first time in a few months that I felt happy and 100% myself. Perhaps that’s the magic of Disney that Walt always talked about. #adultsatdisney #disneyland

  • I can’t stop obsessing over this book! It’s Behind-the-Music meets Almost Famous, and I had to constantly remind myself that I wasn’t reading an interview in Rolling Stone Magazine. I just love when a book comes around that makes me fall further in love with reading than I already am. Have you read it? What are you #currentlyreading? #bookworm #bookstagram
