Drugstore Beauty Haul

One of the (many) benefits of having a husband that works for Walgreens is the employee discount on all items in the store, including the beauty section. On top of that, if you belong to the rewards program, you can redeem points to get a certain dollar amount off your purchase.

Well, this past Saturday, I think I hit a new personal record. I purchased $50 worth of merchandise for only $15. Yes, that’s correct. I was pretty proud of myself.

But, enough of me blabbing about how much I enjoy store deals and steals – let’s get into the products I picked up!

L’Oreal True Match Lumi Healthy Luminous Makeup // My skin has been ridiculously dry as of late, so my normal full-coverage matte foundations just aren’t cutting it. They emphasize all my dry spots, and my skin looks scaly and flaky by the end of the day. I’ve rarely been one to opt for a more natural finish foundation, but I read a lot of rave reviews on this one, some even claiming that it’s a dupe for the ever-popular Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation. Stay tuned for an update!

L’Oreal  Extraordinaire Gel Lacque Primer & Base Coat // I’ve long since run out of my beloved Revlon ColorStay base and top coat, and since it appears that they’ve sadly discontinued both of those products, I was looking for a replacement. I’ve always been a fan of the L’Oreal polishes, so I thought I would try out this set. It says you are supposed to use the gel lacquer polishes to reap the full benefits of this set, but I’ve already used the base and top coat with a regular polish, and I’m impressed with the results.

L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Le Vernis in 700 Aux Chandelles // Does anybody else suffer from always buying a new nail polish even when you have 50 half-unused bottles sitting at home? I’ve really come to believe over the past few years that there is no such thing as too much nail polish. Anyways, this color sucked me right in with it’s beautiful shade of grey and slightly pale blue undertone. It’s a perfect color for this time of year.

Maybelline Define-a-Brow Eyebrow Pencil // I’ve written enough about this pencil on the blog that you all know that I love and swear by it. I finally was able to pick up a replacement after I ran out earlier last week. Let me tell you – not having that pencil available for more than a couple days was torture.

L’Oreal Brow Stylist Plumper Brow Gel Mascara // Sticking with brows, this caught my attention seeing as it could potentially be a dupe for Benefit’s Gimme Brow. I purchased the Transparent shade this time to test it out without worrying about if it’s the right color or not. I’ve only used it a couple times, but the brush is nearly identical to the Benefit one, and it appears to have good staying power.

Rimmel Moisture Renew Universal Transparent Lip Liner // I’m appalled that I didn’t know my favorite drugstore lip product line had a transparent lip liner available! I’ve been keeping my eyes out for one for a while now to help with my dark, winter lipsticks, so I am over the moon about this discovery.

Rimmel Exaggerate Full Colour Automatic Lip Liner in Enchantment // I intended to pick up a replacement of my favorite pink liner, East End Snob, but sadly it was sold out. Instead, I purchased the shade Enchantment, which is a slightly darker pink and should work well with a few of the lipsticks that I’ve been wearing on repeat lately.

Have you scored any new recent drugstore goodies?
