Drugstore Beauty Haul

One of the (many) benefits of having a husband that works for Walgreens is the employee discount on all items in the store, including the beauty section. On top of that, if you belong to the rewards program, you can redeem points to get a certain dollar amount off your purchase.

Well, this past Saturday, I think I hit a new personal record. I purchased $50 worth of merchandise for only $15. Yes, that’s correct. I was pretty proud of myself.

But, enough of me blabbing about how much I enjoy store deals and steals – let’s get into the products I picked up!

L’Oreal True Match Lumi Healthy Luminous Makeup // My skin has been ridiculously dry as of late, so my normal full-coverage matte foundations just aren’t cutting it. They emphasize all my dry spots, and my skin looks scaly and flaky by the end of the day. I’ve rarely been one to opt for a more natural finish foundation, but I read a lot of rave reviews on this one, some even claiming that it’s a dupe for the ever-popular Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation. Stay tuned for an update!

L’Oreal  Extraordinaire Gel Lacque Primer & Base Coat // I’ve long since run out of my beloved Revlon ColorStay base and top coat, and since it appears that they’ve sadly discontinued both of those products, I was looking for a replacement. I’ve always been a fan of the L’Oreal polishes, so I thought I would try out this set. It says you are supposed to use the gel lacquer polishes to reap the full benefits of this set, but I’ve already used the base and top coat with a regular polish, and I’m impressed with the results.

L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Le Vernis in 700 Aux Chandelles // Does anybody else suffer from always buying a new nail polish even when you have 50 half-unused bottles sitting at home? I’ve really come to believe over the past few years that there is no such thing as too much nail polish. Anyways, this color sucked me right in with it’s beautiful shade of grey and slightly pale blue undertone. It’s a perfect color for this time of year.

Maybelline Define-a-Brow Eyebrow Pencil // I’ve written enough about this pencil on the blog that you all know that I love and swear by it. I finally was able to pick up a replacement after I ran out earlier last week. Let me tell you – not having that pencil available for more than a couple days was torture.

L’Oreal Brow Stylist Plumper Brow Gel Mascara // Sticking with brows, this caught my attention seeing as it could potentially be a dupe for Benefit’s Gimme Brow. I purchased the Transparent shade this time to test it out without worrying about if it’s the right color or not. I’ve only used it a couple times, but the brush is nearly identical to the Benefit one, and it appears to have good staying power.

Rimmel Moisture Renew Universal Transparent Lip Liner // I’m appalled that I didn’t know my favorite drugstore lip product line had a transparent lip liner available! I’ve been keeping my eyes out for one for a while now to help with my dark, winter lipsticks, so I am over the moon about this discovery.

Rimmel Exaggerate Full Colour Automatic Lip Liner in Enchantment // I intended to pick up a replacement of my favorite pink liner, East End Snob, but sadly it was sold out. Instead, I purchased the shade Enchantment, which is a slightly darker pink and should work well with a few of the lipsticks that I’ve been wearing on repeat lately.

Have you scored any new recent drugstore goodies?

Love anything that's a good deal, what a great haul you got for $15!! Way to go! I really want to ad a transparent liner to my collection, and that polish shade is so pretty. There's no such thing as having too many nail polishes!

I read this post earlier in the week. I needed some new L'Oreal mascara, so you motivated me to give some L'Oreal foundation a try. I picked up a different one than you did, but I'm in love!

I've been seeing a ton of transparent liners pop up, for good reason! I go through fazes where I'm in Sephora or Walgreens once a week then I go through months without purchasing a thing haha, it's been a while! Looks like some great goodies, and what a SCORE!

If I don't like it, you'll probably inherit it!

I'm with you! Plus, my skin has decided to act like a teenager and break out like crazy. I picked up a new cleanser today that hopefully will help – it's targeted for acne and it's a cream cleanser, so maybe my skin won't be so dry.

Yes! I think it's going to work like a charm for the darker lip products.

If I could get away with only using tinted moisturizer, I totally would. Unfortunately, I don't have the greatest skin and need good coverage on a daily basis. Happy Monday!

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks so!

So far, I really like the brow gel! It's a fairly new product, so it may not be everywhere yet. I may have to order East End Snob myself – I can't find it anywhere!

Maybe I haven't mentioned that before! He's a pharmacist for the company. 🙂 I can't believe I hadn't found this nail polish sooner – it is the perfect color!

It's definitely a nice perk! I'll be sure to update you on the foundation – I used it for the first time this morning, and I wasn't too impressed … we'll see.

I'm so glad this is helpful to you! The nail polish has been on my nails since Saturday, and I am loving it. Perfect neutral for this time of year!

I've been having the same issue with my favourite foundations lately too – all this back and forth weather is really sucking all the moisture out of my skin! I'd love to know how the Lumi foundation holds up on dry patches!

Ohhhhhhhhhh that transparent lip liner I am very intrigued!!! Sounds awesome for all those bold red lips that we love so much 😉

Nice work! That's great that you are able to use your husband's discount too. I have a rewards card and use it every time I go to my neighborhood Walgreens. 🙂 I have that same problem with my face during the winter, so I use tinted moisturizer. Looking forward to hearing more of your reviews on these products though!! Have a great day!

This post is so helpful! I'm always wanting to try new beauty products as I browse through Target, but I'm afraid I won't like them. I'm always looking for good reviews. Thanks!

All of that stuff for only $15 is amazing! I can't wait to hear what you think of the brow gel- I haven't heard of that one yet! I actually just ordered Eastend Snob from Amazon because it was always sold out when I went anywhere that sells Rimmel.
