Home for the Holidays {New Home Tour}

After many questions and much anticipation – today is the day that I’m welcoming all of you into our new home!

This is a picture-heavy post, so I want to jump right in. However, before I do, please keep in mind that we only moved in a week ago. These photos are not perfect, there is clutter everywhere, and we still don’t have everything unpacked. The house is a work in progress, but that’s the beauty of now owning our own home – we can take our sweet time with all of it!

So, go grab a hot cup of hot chocolate, and enjoy the tour!

First, we start in the entryway. Down that small hallway is the door to the garage, a huge coat closet to the left, and the laundry room to the right.

From the other direction, we enter the formal living room and dining room. We don’t have any furniture for these rooms, so naturally it has become a dumping ground and staging area for boxes and stuff that we don’t know what to do with yet. Just focus on the large front window – it’s my favorite feature of the room!

Into the kitchen we go! I couldn’t be more in love with how big and open this space is, not to mention all the storage. All of it needs some major updating, but we’ll get there eventually.

One of the major selling points of this house for us was the backyard. We live right in the heart of the city, but we have woods for a backyard. It’s great to have that additional privacy and a pretty view to stare at!

From the kitchen, we step down into our family room! Again, we love the big windows that look over the backyard and just the overall space in the room – photos don’t do it justice. The beams will be coming down in the near future, and we plan to replace the built-ins with something a bit more modern and not as big.

Down the hallway, there is a large half-bath to the left and the basement door to the right.

Let’s head upstairs – first stop, our master bedroom.

The previous owners had their bed in-between the windows, but we just didn’t like our furniture there. Our nightstands blocked the windows, and it made the room feel very small. Now on the back wall, there’s much more open space. We plan to add a shelving unit between the windows to display jewelry and other items, and I finally will get a storage ottoman for the end of the bed.

Now into the master bathroom and walk-in closet. And, yes – our hamper currently is sitting in our tub. Ryan put it there on move-in day, and it just hasn’t made it’s way out yet.

Down the hall, there is another full bathroom to the left, two guest rooms (not pictured), and then my office to the right!

I can’t even begin to explain my excitement over my office/vanity room. The large window brings in so much natural light, and the whole room just screams girly to me – you can bet that I plan to swap that light fixture out for a chandelier.

So, that in a nutshell is our new home! We already have paint colors picked out, and we are looking forward to a lot of updates and renovations in the near future. I’m looking forward to sharing the progress and final results with all of you!
