Rise and shine, all – it’s Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend.
Today I’m bringing you the third installment of the Only Pick One series, and we are going to be chatting about all things lips. If you’re new here or to this series, these are the products that I would choose if I absolutely only could pick one from each category. In other words, these are my holy grail, can’t-live-without makeup products. Be sure to check out the other posts from this series.
So, back to lip products, which happen to be my favorite beauty product to discuss. I never used to be much of a lips girl, but in recent years I’ve discovered the beauty of how a simple swipe of lipstick or pigmented lipgloss can change your entire look. Now I can’t even imagine leaving the house without some sort of color on my lips.
I’ve only used a few lip exfoliates in my time, but this one takes the cake. You may think it’s a bit pricey for the size of the jar, but this little jar has lasted me a long time – like, this is the only jar I’ve ever owned. It’s not too harsh on my lips, and it leaves them feeling soft and smooth.
This probably doesn’t come as a surprise to many of you as I almost always include these in my monthly favorites. NYX really hit the mark with these glosses – they are the epitome of a classic gloss, but they also provide a surprising amount of pigment and shine. These are my go-to when I just want to swipe something on my lips as I’m headed out the door.
Okay, so this is technically another lip gloss, but I consider this line of products to be more of a liquid lipstick. The color payoff and staying power is fantastic, and the shade selection is impressive for a heavier, thicker gloss. I’ve worn these on numerous occasions with nothing else on my lips and have received compliments from people on my “lipstick.” Just be cautious to not put too much on otherwise it could look gooey.
Again, this probably is not a shocking revelation to many of you – this is hands down my all-time favorite lipstick. If Rimmel ever decides to discontinue this shade, I will buy out the entire stock at every local store just so I always have it on-hand. It is the perfect darker-toned neutral, and it goes with anything at any time of year. As I’ve mentioned before, I wore this on my wedding day and I thought it looked beautiful in photos. It also held up extremely well (despite all the kissing!).
Have you figured out yet that I kind of have a thing for Rimmel lip products? If you are a newbie to lip liners, these are the ones for you. They are retractable, so you don’t have to worry about sharpening a pencil, and the formula is creamy with a matte finish, which makes it nearly impossible to mess up. They also are ridiculously affordable, so it’s easy to buy different colors to match all those lipsticks in your drawer. I’ve even worn these liners on their own by just filling in my lips with it and then topping it off with a clear gloss – they have a great wear time.
Although I pretty much will use any lip balm that is laying around, Nivea’s balms are my “splurge” when I actually run out of lip balms. (Do we ever actually use a whole tube of lip balm, or do we just lose them and start a new one?) I love the way this particular formula makes my lips feel – smooth, hydrated and the hint of mint gives my lips a tingly feeling. Not to mention, it helps freshen up my breath!
