High Five for Friday

Who’s ready to kick back for the first long weekend of the summer? I know I am!
I honestly cannot even put into words just how excited I am for this weekend. The weather is going to be downright beautiful, and the hubs is off work until Tuesday. That’s four whole days of fun that we get to spend with each other! Which btw, rarely happens these days because of his work schedule, hence my excitement.
To kick off the weekend, we are planning to finally go buy our new grill today and get some flowers to beautify the yard, and then tomorrow, we are heading downtown to the Milwaukee Zoo and to finally explore this beautiful new city that we call home! Be sure to follow me on Instagram as I’m sure I will capture some of our shenanigans along the way.
Before I sign off, let’s not forget what Memorial Day is really about. As a sister of a U.S. Navy veteran and acquaintance to other military personnel, I thank you for your service. You are what keeps our country safe, and we wouldn’t be able to live the way we do without you and your sacrifice.
On that note,
wherever you are and whatever your plans are, I hope you have a great
weekend! Here are the highlights from my week.

1. I am so excited to announce that I successfully completed my virtual assist course and am now open for business! My professional website currently is under construction (I am working with the beautifully talented Aubrey Kinch on that side of things), but you can still find all my services and pricing information on the site. If you or any other bloggers, small business owners or online creatives that you know are looking for a virtual assistant, it would be great if you could pass along my name. Anybody interested in hiring me also can email me

2. Have I mentioned lately just how much I am LOVING this warm weather in the Midwest? It’s about dang time. I finally can wear my boyfriend jeans and flip flops without freezing my toes off. It’s simply bliss.

3. I forced myself to get out of my book rut this week (and frankly, my eyes need a break from the computer) and started one that has been sitting on my nightstand for months: Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns, which is the sequel to The Devil Wears Prada. I’m only a couple chapters in, but so far it is okay. I wasn’t a huge fan of the first book, but I couldn’t help but want to read the second one. It’s a good, mindless summer read, and that’s exactly what I need for now.
4. Bunny family alert! We have the cutest little bunny parents frolicking around our yard, and I finally captured one of them on camera. We’ve named them Peter and Polly … not that we can tell them apart, but we’re cool like that and name the wildlife.

5. For no explicable reason, I felt compelled to bust out my hot rollers the other day to get some big Texas barbie hair (if you watch LolaMarie7 on YouTube, you’ll understand the reference). Although I much prefer using a curling iron and Velcro rollers, the hot rollers did the trick in half the amount of time. Oh, and I’m wearing the Tarte foundation that I’ve been raving about in this picture. My face is even a bit broken out right now, but can you tell? Nope! That stuff is a miracle worker.
