Today’s makeup essentials post is all about my favorite facial feature, the eyes! Our eyes can say so much about who we are as people that I believe it is important to give them some love and attention from the glam squad, don’t you agree?
Beginning with one of the most important, but often ignored, feature of the eyes is the eyebrows. Eyebrows help to shape and frame your face, and the Anastasia brow pencil is the BEST tool for achieving your best look. I only ventured into experimenting with filling in my brows a few years ago and once I discovered this little miracle eyebrow pencil, I’ve never looked back.
The NARS eye primer is the best one I’ve found for my oily eyelids. It holds up all day, and it really does extend the wear of my eyeshadow and prevents creasing. If I want some extra assurance and coverage on my eyelids, I also will apply MAC’s paint pot in Painterly.
Now, I have to admit, it was difficult to narrow down my essential eye shadows. I mean, I only own a select few out of the hundreds of shadows that are out there, so I’m sure I’m bound to come across some other favorites in the future. However, when I asked myself which ones I simply couldn’t live without in my collection, Stila’s eye shadow in Kitten and Lorac’s Pro Palette were the first two that came to mind. I wrote a whole post back in the day about how Kitten is literally the perfect eyeshadow, and the Pro Palette, in my opinion, surpasses any of the Urban Decay Naked palettes. I do own all the Naked palettes and love them, though. I favor matte eye shadows over shimmery ones for most of my looks, so to have both types of shadows available in one palette, you simply can’t beat that.
I’m not a huge fan of eyeliner due to my slightly hooded eyelid, but when I do wear it, I prefer a pencil or gel liner so I can smudge it for a softer look. The Rimmel pencil also is great for lining the waterline.
Last (but certainly not least!) is one of my all-time favorite beauty products – mascara! I rarely leave the house without at least having mascara on – I love how it opens up the eyes and accentuates whatever eye shadow look you choose. I’m not a high-end mascara gal – I really don’t think it’s necessary to spend a lot of money on a tube of mascara when there are SO many great choices at the drugstore. CoverGirl always has been my favorite brand for mascara, and the LashBlast Volume and Clump Crusher mascaras are two I always have on-hand.
Next week will be all about lips – stay tuned!
