DIY Ikea Hack: Brass Accent Table

After mine and Ryan’s trip to Ikea a couple weeks ago, we came home with several pieces from the Klingsbo series. We immediately fell in love with the sleek, classic design of the furniture but also enjoyed the pop of pattern that the flowers add.

I knew from the minute we picked up this side table that it wasn’t going to stay black. We tend to primarily decorate with black, grey and white since they are neutral colors, but Ryan and I have made a pact to bring some more color into our lives.

Enter my new obsession with all things gold.

Ryan agreed that a pop of gold in our furniture would help bring some life to the room and break up all the black wrought iron that currently possesses our space.

This project took me approximately an hour and not even half a can of Rust-Oleum Metallic Spray in Brass. For a table that only cost $40 and a can of spray paint that cost $3 (gotta love Michael’s coupons), it now looks like a brand-new custom piece of furniture.

Have you ever painted anything in your space to give it a whole new look?

That's so cute! I had no idea ikea even made furniture like that– and it looks amazing gold! I've been wanting to paint our bed frame/head board but I'm afraid it will be more work than I realize so not sure it will actually happen anytime soon!

Great way to take a store-bought piece of furniture and "customize" it just for you! It looks terrific and makes a nice accent in your living room!
